RECAP ON THE LOFTY HEIGHTS CONFERENCE 2016. PART 1.
00:00Hi guys, hope y'all have been great.
The Lofty Height Conference I talked about here was on Saturday and guys it was all shades of AH-MAZ-ING, it was mind blowing, it was off da hook, it was … ok someone should tell me to stop here, lol.
As usual I was one of the team planners (a.k.a volunteers) for the event. I was supposed to work with the Media team but I ended up working with the registration team and ushering team.
The event started at about 10am but participants started coming in from 7AM, they could not wait. People travelled from outside Lagos to attend the event, our publicity on social media paid off big time. Lest I forget, the stage decoration was beautiful.
We kicked off the event with the National Anthem, led by a cute young man, Master Alpha Selah with his saxophone.
Then the participants were asked to make a pledge to be the best they can be; to attain every heights available regardless of circumstances.
Next was the opening speech by the Convener of the Lofty height Conference, Wale Tejumade.
His words- I welcome you to #LHC2016. I believe so much in you. I appreciate you; be inspired, empowered and motivated.

The first speaker was Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Director of Programs, TVC.
She shared the accident experience she had in college that changed her life and that of her family for good. She was in coma for 3-5 days, the accident left her with a fractured skull, damaged lungs amongst other serious injuries. She was the only Christian in her family at the time, her parents almost gave up on her, the doctors’ reports were not encouraging but her Christian friends and pastors continued praying for her. Her recovery was a miracle and led her mother to give her life to Christ.
That incident and other life challenges drove her closer to God and she started praying and asking God why He saved her from the accident and what He wanted her to do. God directed her to HiTv, she went there in faith and got the job. Though she did not get the job description she wanted, she was diligent at what she was asked to do. Before long she was promoted to her desired position.
5 Key things that helped her:
1. The HOLY SPIRIT: You can’t do anything without the Holy Spirit; if you do you can’t sustain it on your own.
2. PURPOSE: Find purpose and a PLATFORM to exhibit it. If there is no platform around, create one for yourself and take it seriously. It will open new doors for you.
3. HUMILITY: Don’t act like you know everything; be willing to learn from people.
4. RELATIONSHIP: Build good relationships, learn to forgive, you would need the person next to you someday. Respect and value people. Don’t burn bridges.
5. LEADERSHIP: Be a leader even in the smallest capacity. Lead by example. Don’t ask people to do things you won’t do. Leadership is a skill you must develop.
There will always be down times, be determined, persistent and hold on to God. As Nigerian youths, it's great to study abroad but don’t go there to waste time and resources, pick up tools and come back to add value to your country.
The next session was a panel session with Adebayo Ajibola (Holy Mallam) and Glowreeyah Braimah; moderated by Pastor Oluwadamilola Fatoyinbo.
Highlight from Holy Mallam.
1. God is very busy, for Him to create you makes you special. You are not a mistake. If you are alive, there is greatness in you.
2. After discovering your purpose, go through lots of training to help you.
3. You can be talented and lose it in the area of character.
4. If the MMC (Mediocrity, Myopia and Complacency) syndrome is found in a person, he is finished.
5. Integrity and humility is vital.
6. Everyone has an assignment from God. When you play your role and focus on your assignment you would keep going despite challenges.
7. Fame not well handled ends in shame.
8. The essence of existence must be truly understood for you to live a joyful life and so you don’t do what you are not supposed to be doing.
Highlight from Glowreeyah Braimah
1. Life has a way of humbling and breaking a man whether you like it or not. What you do with your brokenness matters.
2. Take a risk with your brokenness.
3. Have a mind of a child, open and willing to learn.
4. You need people (relationship), persistence and also keep your head high.
The session ended with a live performance of ‘Miracle Worker’ by Glowreeyah Braimah.
Next was an awesome performance by Ranti who left a multimillion engineering job to pursue her purpose. She is an amazing classical singer.
Next was a short speech by the convener Wale Tejumade.
1. Your purpose in life is either a function of your passion or your pain.
2. You can't afford to live a low life forever.
3. The greatest purpose of a man on earth is to glorify his Creator.
4. The time for everyone to be on the run and have clarity of purpose is NOW.
5. The greatest joy of your Creator is to see you living your purpose.
6. You need people to be all God has purposed you to be. Your friends may as well determine the level of purpose and vision in your head.
7. Discover PURPOSE, BUILD NETWORK and SIEVE from your NETWORK those who are not in line with your purpose.
8. If you have the opportunity to serve, please serve. In service, you will find and build good network.
9. Without God, you CANNOT make any SIGNIFICANT LEAP. No one can be greater than the GOD he serves.
10. Caution: Even though God gives vision now, NOT ALL VISIONS ARE FOR NOW.
11. You must know who you are and whose you are. Until you are able to blend both, purpose is far from you.
12. There should never be a time when you doubt what God has asked you to do.
13. You can't go ANYWHERE without a RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
14. God created you as an EAGLE, don’t live the life of a DUCKLING. SOAR HIGH.
After this power packed session was the break time. NETWORKING!!!
SEE YOU IN THE NEXT POST here…
