Hi guys, happy new week. I hope your weekend was as awesome and fun filled as mine. On Friday I went for the Behavioral Change Practitioner Conference I wrote about here. I might post a review of the event later in the week. I spent the most part of Saturday at home, I was not in the outing mood. On Sunday was my friend Mary's birthday and she invited me and few other friends to celebrate with her at the Elegushi beach, Lekki.

Prior to Sunday, I was probably the only surviving young adult that has not been to a beach before (covers face). I am a huge lover of nature, I'm that kind of girl that wants her fiance to propose to her in a garden and have her wedding by a beach side, so I'm not anti nature. I kinda have phobia for crowd, and beaches are always crowdy; so when my friend said we were going to the beach I was like oh no, can't we go to the cinemas instead.

To cut the long story short, I found myself at the beach on Sunday afternoon. At first every where was cool, just few people hanging around but towards evening the beach was crowded.

Anyways I had epic fun and I am so glad I did not stay back at home, I would have cried lol. So guys I'm gonna let you enjoy the pictures. We took over 500 pictures, thanks to selfie stick and people like Chioma.

Here's a move to uphold sexual purity. God condemns sexual sin just the way He condemns every other kind of sin. Then why does this particular sin gather more interest? I guess -and know- it's because it is physical. It involves the physical body.

Sex is only approved and blessed by God within the walls of MARRIAGE. Engaging in sex outside marriage is grave, dangerous, deadly.

As much as sex is physical, it is very deeply spiritual. It involves a mix of blood. It's serious! You don't want your blood mingled with some guy you have no clue about his spiritual background (I don't even mean if he's born-again now). I mean his history, his stand in the spiritual realm, what Word has been said for or against him somewhere, etc.

You must allow access to your body ONLY to the one who you'd be joined to for life and blessed under heaven's approval. That way sex becomes a huge blessing to you.

On the other hand, just the way we could place less value on what is actually of great value, some of us might have just thrown our V-card to the wind and given it away. Or worse still, we might have even had it taken from us by force!

If you were violated and tampered with or even simply careless, I need you to understand that ONLY YOUR VIRGINITY IS BROKEN, YOUR DESTINY ISN'T!
So don't mess up yourself! It doesn't mean that because it happened once, it must happen again and again.

YOU ARE STILL SO PRECIOUS IN GOD'S SIGHT.
God values you; He values even your body so honor Him with it!

Decide to stay pure from today.
Ask God for the courage to stay clean. Of course, HE CAN AND WILL HELP YOU.
Stay away from persons, books, films, places that make you want to go back to it.
Reserve your beautiful body for the one who deserves it because he is loving enough to WAIT FOR THE BEST TIME!

Hi guys, how have you been?  I'm so sorry about my absence on the blog lately. I've been trying to adjust to some recent changes in my life. You know life constantly serves us sour lemons but we are strong and victorious when we are able to turn the lemons to sweet lemonade.

The 14th of November was the WORLD'S sexual purity day and it gladdens my heart to see that young people are embracing sexual purity and are making firm decisions to wait till marriage.

They put entire future, hope and position with God in the hands of a thin piece of rubber because they said it'll keep you safe. Oh yes, the 'all mighty rubber' will keep you safe...

They drop their heavenly crown for that hungry guy just to prove their love. "Yes dear, I will go to hell because I love you"
Or because they just wanna have fun. "Why not, after all I only have the rest of my life to pay for it"

Do not be deceived by society or brain washed by the media. Zippers down at the wrong time never ends well. Let's live a life of sexual purity.

Exactly 365 days ago in a 6 man room in the prestigious Moremi hall of the University of First Choice and the nation’s pride (University of Lagos of course); a final year microbiology female student had her big chop. Whoop Whoop!!!
Yeah I know I’ve been natural all my life, so you might be wondering why I am super duper excited; I'd  tell you. Having natural hair is very different from having healthy natural hair. I big chopped because my hair was not growing or maybe it was growing and I was not retaining length, my hair was natural but twas not healthy. So on that fateful day, I embarked on a journey to grow healthy natural hair. I’m on a mission to grow my hair healthy, beautiful and very long to my waist, yes I said that TO MY WAIST; and I’m gonna get there in the next 4 to 5 years by God’s grace. I’ve always loved long hair and I believe as a woman my hair is my crown and glory, it’s a very special gift from God to me; so I must love it no matter how difficult and unmanageable it may seem cause trust me my 4c kinks can be very annoying sometimes and just refuse to cooperate but I’ve learnt to love it just the way it is cause that’s what God did for us, He loved us in our filth and stubbornness.
So today, I’d be sharing lessons I’ve learnt in my one year journey, my setbacks, staple products and my goals for the next one year.

Lessons I’ve learnt
1. Patience: My hair has taught me to take things poco a poco (little by little). Our hair grows at different pace so there is really no need to rush. Just enjoy your length at it different stages and give it time, it will grow. After all a mango tree does not mature fully in a month, it takes weeks and months of nurturing before it blossoms and start bearing fruits.
2.  No comparisons:  Even the bible says that he that compares himself with another is not wise. Don’t compare your growth process with another person. No two individuals are the same, so your growth rate can never be the same. Do what you need to do and leave your hair to grow at its own pace.
3.  Love and listen to your hair: For 4C kink bearers like me, our hair can be so annoying sometimes, having a mind of its own and doing whatsoever it pleases. You push it to the left and it bounces right back, sometimes bobby pins can’t even help. I totally understand but my dear you still need to love it. Know what your hair wants at each time, listen to it. Sometimes you know your hair is dry and it needs water or moisture but you also know that adding water would make it shrink and ruin your hairstyle for the day. Don’t forget that dry hair leads to breakage which leads to lack of length retention. Embrace your shrinkage dear and moisturize your hair when needed.
4. Accept your flaws: Since I started growing my hair, I noticed that I don’t have full edges due to the shape of my hairline. No matter what I do, it can’t be as full as some of my natural haired friends. Now that’s a fact I need to accept and move on.
5. Don’t follow the multitude: Don’t use a product or hair tool because everyone is using it. If your hair doesn’t feel good with it,  drop it.

Set backs
1. Shedding and breakage
2. Length retention (split ends)
3. Itching and dandruff

My staple products
75% of the products I used were made by me in my kitchen or bedroom. You can check this post for some of them. They include my DIY shea mix, shampoo, hair oil and deep conditioner.

Hair goals and plans
My major goals are to get to mid back length by this time next year, get rid of dandruffs and retain as much length as possible. To achieve this, I’d be doing the following:
1. My normal hair routine or regimen
2. Reduce hair manipulation
3. Do more protective styles
4. Improve on my eating habits. Take more veggies, fruits and water.
5. Use hair growth supplements
6. Exercise more.
7. Carry out an intensive 6 month hair growth challenge (id notify you when its time)

Yeah, I’m talking to you, yes you, check ya boobs. I know this is a pretty awkward way to start the new month (by the way HAPPY NEW MONTH DARLINGS), plus some of you would be wondering if I just woke up from a long slumber; cause by now everyone almost everyone knows that last month, October was the World’s breast cancer awareness month, so this post would have made more sense last month. Yeah I know and the truth is I wasn’t sleeping at all, I was very aware of the breast cancer awareness movement, I was even supposed to wear the pink shirt and run round Lagos and yes I was also supposed to put up a post on that but I just didn’t know where to start from. I read and heard so many sad stories of people that lost their loved ones to this monster ‘cancer’ and it’s really disheartening. You know this awareness thingy should not be for a month only, it should be everyday because people die of cancer every day. It’s high time we stopped spiritualizing things and do the needful. The best cure for cancer is early detection. So back to the topic, check ya boobs. As a lady when was the last time you did self breast examination? My dear sister in Christ, there is nothing is be ashamed of here, those boobs are yours and it’s your responsibility for it to be healthy. Examining your boobs with the right motive is not lesbianism or whatever; I just need to make that clear.

I’d be a little personal in this post. First, I’d share an event I encountered, and then I’d share my personal experience.

Few years back I was at a camp meeting with my family, a young woman probably in her late twenties or early thirties was brought to the room I and my sisters lodged to pass the night with us. The room was a 6 man room or so. This young woman was in pain, in tears and agony, and then we found out that she had breast cancer. The cancer had eaten up one of her breasts and was spreading to the other one and its environs. She was filled with scars, her head was shaven, and she smelled. Some of the women had to leave the room with their children because they couldn’t stand the sight. At night, this woman could not sleep, she was crying, she took her drugs but the pain won’t just go and yeah I couldn’t sleep too, how could I. Then she started telling us how it started and all that, I was close to tears but I had to stay strong and console the woman. The next morning, her handsome young husband came with their little maybe 2 years old daughter and I was just broken. Imagine a man watch the love of his life go through so much pain or a little girl watch her momma wail and cry. It’s not a funny experience.

Now I’d talk about me. Since I was a teenager, since I can remember or rather since I started maturing and growing boobs I had noticed this lump in my right breast. I didn’t know anything about breast examination; I was just a naïve teenager exploring her body innocently (I’ve always loved human anatomy and all that good stuff). When I first noticed it, I ignored it. After months and years I’d check again and alas it was still there, not moving, not increasing or decreasing in size, it was just there. At a point I became scared, then I heard about breast cancer and how breast lumps could lead to cancer, then I became more scared but I kept it to myself. In my first year in the university, I saw a scar on my big sister roommate’s breast and I asked her what happened to her there, then she said she had a lumpectomy surgery (removal of lumps from the breast). So I summoned courage and told her about mine and she advised me to take it off to be on a safer side. I just said ok and let it pass. In my second year, I had to do a complete medical screening that involved breast examination. After examination, the doctor confirmed that I had a lump and referred me to LUTH (Lagos University Teaching Hospital) for a proper scan and surgery. I did the scan but I didn’t have courage to do a surgery, I was scared.

Fast forward to last year. The fact that I was scared didn’t make the lump disappear, in fact I fasted and prayed because of it but it was still there. At some point I was using faith to say that the lump had gone whenever I was asked but I could not deceive myself, I still felt the lump. So late last year stroke this year, I decided to be sincere with myself and do the right thing. I did research, asked questions and started looking for good gynecologists in Lagos. I found one early this year, booked appointments with the doctor and did thorough examination. After the examination, my doctor discovered that I had a lump not just on one breast but on both of them, scary right?? Then I went for a scan which showed that I had not just one lump but two lumps on both breasts, more scary right???
I told my parents and booked a day for the surgery ASAP. After the surgery, my doctor came into my room in the hospital to show me and my family the lumps and my dear they were not less than five in all. So I was harboring all of that in my tiny body. The lumps where examined and the result showed that they were not cancerous, can I hear a HALLELUYAH there? AMEN.

Those lumps were not cancerous but they could become cancerous so it was better to take them out.
Last month I did a post surgery scan and it showed I didn’t have any lumps again. Yeah, I’m excited and very happy right now but I see and feel my scars each day (mind you, they are so beautiful) but these scars remind me that there is a young lady out there that need to be reminded to check her boobs.

For me, each day is breast cancer awareness day. Remember, early detection is the best cure for breast cancer. Save a life, share this post.
