Welcome back to the virtues series. Let's get started.

INWARD BEAUTY

  1. Have faith: Faith is a feeling, conviction or belief that something is true or real. First, you need to have faith in God, you need to believe Him and trust Him wholeheartedly because He is the embodiment of virtues. Next, you need to exercise the principle of faith by being faithful in your pursuit of virtues. You need to constantly believe and be fully convinced that it's possible to be virtuous. A biblical example of a virtuous woman is Ruth, who choose to follow the God of Israel in spite of the difficulty it brought her. It would have been an easier decision for her to return to her people in Moab and continue worshipping the gods of her childhood but she decided because she was convinced to follow the God of Israel. Ruth committed herself to faith in the God of Israel and was ready to face the consequences. You too should commit yourself to your faith in God and in the goodness of virtues and remain faithful despite all odds.
  2. Keep your body pure: Another way to put this would be "respect your body". Treat your body as a treasure, always remember that it is God's temple and for God to dwell in your body it means you are precious and highly favoured. Do not give your body away to just anyone in the name of love which is actually lust. Keeping your body pure means waiting until marriage before having sex. Sex should be treated as something special that should be cherished and practiced between legally married couples. If a guy really, truly and sincerely loves you, he would be patient enough to wait till your wedding night. Being a virgin, pure and chaste before marriage is what makes marriage beautiful and sacred. If you have lost it (your virginity), don't kill yourself, leave the past behind, you can still be pure and chaste, just refrain from all forms of sexuality. Don't say it's just a hug or kiss or it's just few minutes of romance, trust me those are the tiny sparks of fire that leads to the main deal. If you are still a virgin, congratulations, don't feel strange or weird, you are not alone. Yes, the pressure is high and temptations are everywhere, just have faith in God, believe in yourself, flee from ALL appearances of evil and wait for your wedding night. You'd be glad you did.
  3. Be receptive: Learn to be open to advice and critique from others, instead of being stiff and sticking to your own opinions regardless of whether they are right or wrong. Be willing to weigh the options of others carefully to determine if it is useful or not and act accordingly.
  4. Cultivate reason: Women (ladies, girls and adults) are very emotional beings, and the downside of emotion is that it can often blind or cripple our reasoning. A virtuous lady or woman accepts her emotions and mood swings but she is able to use reason to temper her reactions. You don't talk or act harshly because you are angry or hurt. In the book of Proverbs in the Bible, we are told to govern ourselves by wisdom rather than by folly.

  1. Chastity is perhaps the scarcest "commodity" amidst bachelors and spinsters and the brainwashing of the media and entertainment industry is not helping. Almost everything is now "sexualized" from clothing to the publicity of beauty products, to supposedly harmless cartoons and games... May God help us as it is difficult in times like these. The younger ones should beware of the consequences of curiosity (and discovery) and the youths are to renew their mind daily with the word of God rather than have a penchant for suspicious (or evil) communications (and audiovisuals) and idleness.

    1. Well said dear, thanks for sharing this. God's grace is sufficient for those that are welling to stand.

  2. It's best to stay clear than to taste of the forbidden... Lust is so powerful that it conflicts with love in such a way that the mind gets confused and becomes incapable of separating both of them.

    1. Very true, that's why we are commanded to 'flee from all appearances of evil'.

This is a clarion call to reclaim virtue in a world where virtue has been violated and has lost it's voice. We seem to have lost the sense of value and the result is the death of virtue. I pray we all get to the point where we all will regain the sense of value, at that point points our daughters, sisters and mothers will be virtuous women while our sons, brothers and fathers will know that they are invaluable. Our world is in dire need of invaluable women. Thanks so much Grace for this initiative. God Bless U!!!
