MODESTY FROM A GUY'S VIEW: JOSHUA MIKE-BAMILOYE

23:00

Hi everyone, hope y’all are doing great. I want to use this medium to say a very big thank you for your support, comments, love, words of encouragement and for taking out time read my musings on this blog. It’s been a wonderful experience so far and I’m grateful to God for giving me this privilege to inspire people with my ‘random’ thoughts. In this post  I got a comment from a male reader that said something like “modesty was a lady’s thing” and I didn’t agree with that because I feel and think guys should be modest too. So today I’d be featuring an awesome young man of character and substance. I’ve not met him yet but I’ve been stalking him for a while now and trust me this guy is loaded with great stuff. His creative work throws me off balance. If you want to know what a man of character thinks about modesty, keep reading. Enjoy!!!

Hi, thanks for this privilege. Can we meet you please?
My name is Joshua Mike-Bamiloye aka jaymikee. I reside in Ibadan, Oyo state. I'm a graduate of Bowen University with a degree in Mass Communication. I am a music producer and a graphic artist. The second born among 3 in the Mike Bamiloye’s family and a Minister of the gospel.

Great, if you are asked to describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be?
Uhm... creative, humorous, loving, weird, passionate

What are you passionate about, what do you love doing?
I'm generally passionate about creativity, streamed down to music and art. I love creating things. I love putting things together to make a lovely piece like, putting sounds together to make a lovely track and putting images together to make a lovely picture. Then most of all I love using these things to inspire people.

Can you please define the word modesty in your own words?
In my own words, I'll say having a proper behavior and appearance that doesn't draw unnecessary attention or isn't morally offensive.

Is modesty a lady's affair alone or does it affect guys?
Oh, it definitely affects guys too.

What’s the reason for your answer?
I say this because 2 Corinthians 6 talks about how we're bought with a price and we are not our own. Rather we are the temple of God. This however has nothing to do with gender. So we all should glorify God in our appearance and character.

What makes a lady modest, is it just outward appearance?
The outward appearance as well as the inward. There has to be that balance. Some people pick the Bible out of context to say "God only looks inward" that's not the idea. That portion is meant to tackle those who try to cover up their repulsive nature/character/insides with attractive outfits and wears. In this context God sees the inside. The Scripture always addresses modest/appropriate dress along with Godly living. The two cannot be separated.
So I'll say a broken spirit and a contrite heart also makes a lady modest.

If you are to speak to a group of young ladies about modesty, what would be your advice to them?
Modesty goes a really long way in building lives. For the appearance, I'll say try not to be too focused on "what's in vogue" rather let the Holy spirit guide you on what to put on. Remember you will be accountable for your actions.  Be the lady God wants you to be. Live to please Him and not men.
And modesty for the inward person, this can't be faked. If no one else sees it, God sees it. Build up a strong relationship with God; this will produce a savor of modesty from inside you to affect others positively.

Thanks so much for your time, how can we connect with you?

  1. True words! Modesty is not only a Ladies business. Its a word that covers all sex. Just like you get pissed off seeing a guy dresses shabby, same reaction goes to a lady when dressed improper.
Keep up the good work dear. Pray to God for more vision, direction and strength to keep on the good work.

Nice 1 bro, heaven is not only a lady's affairs so modesty is for both male and females alike remember that our bodies are the temple of God and we are bought with a price therefore we are to glorify God in our bodies Pals let no one be deceived going to heaven is a serious business, people should stop selecting parts of scriptures that interest them, Without HOLINESS no one will see God
