THE ANKARA QUEEN: CHINENYE

22:00

Thank God it's Friday, thank God I'm fabulous. Today I'd be featuring a dear friend and sister from another mother. She has been my partner in............ not crime o... We are good children, but we've been doing some things together lately as seen in this post.

Hi dear, let's meet you: I am Chinenye Nzom, a graduate of Chemistry Education. Presently, I'm a teacher, I'm into private teachings and also hope to have a platform that can connect parents looking for qualified teachers to teach their wards at home. I'm also into Ankara fashion, I make bags, shoes and accessories (earrings, bangles, brooch, necklace) with ankara materials.

What are you passionate about: I'm really passionate about children and creativity! I believe every child has the right to be protected and educated. Childhood is supposed to be full of joy and happiness, but in today's world children are going through a lot of hard times. I belive things will change for good if everyone protects a child from any form of abuse, whether the child is yours or not. Frederick Douglas said "It is easier to build strong children than repair broken men". I also love to see children do creative things with their hands, it excites me!

Why did you decide to go into Ankara fashion: I decided to go into ankara fashions because of many things. Firstly I love fashion,  business and enterpreneurship, I've sold lot of things in the past and when I saw the ankara fashion I totally loved it because it looks so unique and fashionable so I jumped at it. Secondly, I need to empower myself so as to empower others, so I can train others especially teenagers to get more income legitimately, because in today's world everyone is rushing to have money either in a good or bad way. It's a way of empowering myself to empower others.

Who and what motivated you to go into it: Truth is when I was younger I was not creative at all, I didn't even like to see people sewing clothes and all, I felt it was unseriousness that led them there so I was so serious with my books! But as I grew up, I saw that I loved fashion and business a lot, but I always felt I was not good at handwork so I always waved it off! Till one fortunate day on Twitter, I saw an advert for trainings on bags and shoes made with ankara fabric and was so surprised. Then I told myself if a human being like me can do this then I can! So I got her contacts, connected with her, started training and here I am!

In the next 3 to 5 years, how do you see yourself, do you intend taking this internationally or owning a fashion house?: Of course yes! I'm taking the business globally for sure!! I'm going to own a fashion school to train others and do good business. In the next 5 years, Elclasico Creations will be a brand name by God's grace.

Yippee, that's awesome. Is this ankara stuff easy? What are the major challenges you have faced: Of course as it is for any business I face lot of challenges , the major challenge is handling tools like hitting hammer or spilling hot gum on my hand, it really hurts.

Pele dear, how did you overcome them: I just tell myself I can do it! Nothing good comes easy! Basically I encourage myself.

What is your advice to young people who are scared of starting up something, scared of following their dreams and passion for any reason what so ever: The main reason people are always scared of starting up a business is capital, but for me I've seen it's not a problem. "Its not what you don't have that limits you, but what you have but don't know how to use" Steve Harris. So it's about discovering what you can do to make money or getting a loan. Search for people that are into the business and train with them, ask them questions. Create the right relationships, move with people with vision, like passion, dreams and purpose. You also need to remind yourself that you can do anything once you put your mind to it and follow it through.
"I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me" Phillipians 4:13.

Do you train people now: For now I don't do trainings, but very soon I'll start, but if anyone is interested in the training, please reach me on the contacts below.

Thanks so much for your time, how can we connect with you:
